About: Dirk Baecker is a sociologist working at Zeppelin University, Friedrichshafen, Germany. He studied sociology and economics at the universities of Cologne, Paris (Dauphine) and Bielefeld. In 1996 he was appointed to the chair of corporate governance, business ethics and social change at Witten/Herdecke University, in 2000 to the chair of sociology at the same university. In 2000 he co-founded the Management Zentrum Witten, Berlin. In 2007 he was appointed to the chair of cultural theory and analysis at Zeppelin University. His research interests cover sociological theory, economics, organization, and management. He develops a communication and network model of the way business is reconfiguring itself in dealing with the computer and its derivatives.
